Local places

Our cottage is comfort, tranquility and good air. All that remains is good food and good wine. Here are a few tips:

- For everyday use there is a small grocery store in Ercé where you can buy all the basic food and household products as well as a good assortment of local cheeses that our grocer will be happy to tell you about. You will also find tobacco, books on the region, newspapers, postcards and a small selection of local souvenirs. The icing on the cake: once your shopping is finished you can sit on the terrace and have a little drink. We are counting on you to run this one and last small business in our dear village.

- You will find locally an excellent bakery and an excellent butcher in Oust (6kms from the Gite).
- For all other small shops and a pastry shop you will have to go to Seix (8kms).
- Every Saturday morning: the Saint Girons market (20kms). It is located by the river, under the plane trees. There you will discover all the farm products and artisanal productions of the surrounding mountains. You will also see a whole population of extremely diverse people, ranging from Ariège mountain people with their dark jackets and vests, hippies with their dogs and their extravagant outfits and tourists from all over the world.
- For household supplies and industrial food: there is no shortage of large supermarkets on the outskirts of St Girons.
